1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information CHRONOSEIZE 42 TECH PRIVATE LIMITED ("we", "us") collects when you use the kaahani app and website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It should be read together with our Terms & Conditions, and it is governed by the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable Indian law.
2. What we collect
- Identity: a device identifier that lets you use kaahani without creating an account, and your phone number if you sign in or subscribe. Sign-in uses a one-time passcode sent to that number.
- Story activity: the stories you open, the choices you make, your progress, and the messages you write inside conversational stories.
- Payments: our payment processors and the app store handle your payment details. We receive the plan, amount, and transaction status; we never see or store your card or UPI credentials.
- Device and diagnostics: device model, operating system, app version, and crash and performance logs.
3. How we use it
- To run kaahani: deliver stories, keep your place in them, and remember your choices;
- To generate replies from fictional characters in conversational stories;
- To manage your subscription and what it unlocks;
- To answer support requests and grievances;
- To detect fraud and abuse and keep the Service safe;
- To improve the Service, using data that has been anonymized and aggregated.
4. AI processing
Messages you write in conversational stories are processed by artificial-intelligence models running on our infrastructure providers, for one purpose: writing the character's reply. Your conversations are not published, and are not shared with other users.
5. Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share it only:
- With service providers who operate parts of kaahani for us: cloud hosting, AI infrastructure, payment processing, and delivery of one-time passcodes. They may use it only to provide those services;
- When a law, regulator, or court requires it;
- As part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply to the transferred information.
6. Storage and security
Your information is stored on secure cloud infrastructure and protected by reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security; if a breach affects you, we will act as required by law.
7. Retention
We keep personal information while your identity or account is active and for as long as the purposes above require, after which it is deleted or anonymized. You can request deletion sooner (see the next section).
8. Your rights
Under applicable law, you can:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Ask us to delete your information;
- Withdraw consent to processing. Where the processing is essential to the Service, this means parts of kaahani will stop working for you;
- Nominate a person to exercise these rights on your behalf, as the law provides;
- Raise a grievance with the Grievance Officer named in our Terms & Conditions.
To exercise any of these, write to support@kaahani.app from the account in question.
9. Account and data deletion
You can ask us to delete your account and the personal information linked to it at any time. Email support@kaahani.app with "Delete my account" in the subject, from the phone number linked to your account, so we can confirm the request is yours. If you have never signed in, email us and describe how you use kaahani so we can locate and remove your data. Deleting your account also withdraws your consent to any further processing of that information.
A deletion removes your profile, your story progress and choices, and the messages you wrote inside conversational stories. We may keep a limited amount of information where the law requires us to, or where it is still needed for a purpose you asked us to complete, such as records of your transactions for tax and audit, information needed to detect and prevent fraud and abuse, or records needed to establish or defend a legal claim. We keep any such information only for as long as that purpose or legal obligation lasts, and then delete or anonymize it. Your card and UPI details are held by our payment processors, not by us.
We complete a verified deletion request within 30 days and confirm when it is done.
10. Children
kaahani is not built for children under 13, and we do not knowingly hold their personal information; we delete any we discover. For users under 18, we process personal information on the basis of the parent or guardian consent described in our Terms & Conditions, and the parent or guardian may exercise the rights above on the user's behalf.
11. This website
The kaahani.app website is a static page. It sets no tracking cookies and runs no third-party analytics.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision, and material changes will be announced inside the app.
